Replacing a Porsche windshield is not the same and most vehicles.
The Porsche Cayenne has the top edge of the glass exposed and is extremely close to the painted pinch-weld. Any wrong move will damage this painted surface.
Porsche Panamera windshield replacement has it’s own set of challenges. The overhead console is difficult to remove and there are no instructions in any service manual. Also, you must use OEM glass for the replacement. The aftermarket glass does not include the lower retainer for the cowl panel, upper moulding, setting blocks for correct placement and accessory bracket for the rain sensor and the GPS chip.
Porsche Windshield replacement Options:
Antenna- Porsche has embedded the antenna for many options into the windshield glass. GPS, Radio and others.
Rain Sensor- Mounted on the inside of the windshield, behind the rear-view mirror. The sensor is able to detect the presence and amount of water on the windshield, and automatically activate the wipers accordingly.
Lane Departure Warning System- The lane-departure warning system gives the driver acoustic and visual warnings when it detects that the vehicle is inadvertently straying from the lane. The activated system does not warn the driver if the direction indicator has been actuated on before changing lanes. A camera mounted to the windshield detects the lanes on the road.
Heated windshield- Adds comfort and safety in cold climates. It operates with an extremely thin heatable foil integrated into the windshield instead of heating filaments. The advantage is the all camera-based driver assistance systems can operate without any restrictions. A welcome additional side effect is that the foil reduces the interior noise level.
