Hyundai Auto Glass & Windshield Replacement

Hyundai LogoHyundai Motor Company is South Korean automotive manufacturer. Hyundai and Kia Motors together make Hyundai Motor Group. They are currently the world’s fourth largest automaker behind Volkswagen Group and ahead of Ford. Although relatively new to the United States the 2012 Hyundai Elantra was named North American Car of the Year.   After having a record breaking year in 1986 sales began to suffer.  with a poor reputation for quality and reliability Hyundai invested heavily in R&D. That investment has paid off. All numbers a up and the poor reputation has lifted. They now offer a 1o year / 100,000 warranty.

Hyundai Windshield Replacement

For the most part, auto glass and windshield replacement on a Hyundai is affordable. The average is about half the cost of a luxury vehicle. The prices can go up depending on the model and part. Usually, the more common the vehicle the cheaper the replacement glass. Also, years when a model changes body-styles.

Another factor of Hyundai auto glass prices is how often the part is broken. The windshield, Front Driver Door Glass, Front Passenger Door Glass are the most commonly broken windows and usually the cheapest. Followed by Rear Doors and on to Back Glass, Quarter Glass, Vent Glass.

Hyundai has engineered their vehicles to be friendly to work on. Unlike many cars only the standard windshield replacement tools are needed. In the hands of a skilled auto glass installer a replacement will look and function like it was done on the assembly line. With that being said all models have their little issues.

The Hyundai Veracruz windshield side moulding is very stiff and rigid. It can be difficult to form the replacement on a cold day.  The Hyundai Sonata has guide stops on the underside of the windshield that can make it difficult to remove. The bottom corners on a Hyundai Elantra windshield sit very snug, it can be difficult to set the windshield properly and the technician must be careful not to touch the edge of the hood.

Hyundai Windshield Replacement Options:

Lane Departure Warning- using a camera mounted to the windshield the system is designed to alert drivers of unintended lane changes. Audible, visual and haptic warnings are triggered to restore the driver’s attention in cases where the car drifts or changes lanes without using a turn signal.

Heads-up Display (HUD)– The vehicle’s most crucial information is conveniently projected directly onto the surface of the windshield. Information can be turned on or off at the driver’s discretion. Monitor vehicle speed, turn-by-turn navigation, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Smart Cruise Control (SCC)in real time.

Acoustic Laminated Windshield and Side Windows- Additional sound barrier between the laminated glass reducing road noise. Making for a more comfortable ride.

Front Door Water-Repellent Glass-  a titanium-silica coating on the Front Door Glass that helps make water bead up and run off, making it easier to see through the window when raining.  Similar to Rain-X window treatments, this titanium-silica coating is permanent.  It never needs to be reapplied, and it requires no special treatment.

Automatic rain-sensing wipers– A optical sensor attached to the windshield.  It uses infrared light beamed at a 45-degree angle into the windshield which reflects back — if the glass is wet, less light returns to the sensor, and the windshield wipers wipers turn on.

Windshield Wiper Deicer- An electric grid embedded in the glass, similar to your rear-window deicer, that runs along the base of the windshield . Its purpose is to warm the area to help keep the wipers free of ice and snow.

Auto-defogging windshield with humidity sensor- Auto defogging reduces the probability of fogging up the inside of the windshield by automatically sensing the moisture on the inside of the windshield. The system operates when the heater or air conditioning is on.
